Abstract
In order to be able to meet the current requirements for climate protection as well as the existing and future possibilities of digitalization and the resulting change in the construction industry, this article reflects on developments in research and teaching in the “Baubetrieb, Bauwirtschaft und Baumanagement” (BBB) network (Construction Management and Economics Network of the D-A-CH universities). With re-gard to research, it becomes clear that „translational research“ is to be seen as an essential characteristic of the BBB profes-sorships. The expansion of general knowledge acquired in this way leads to specialization in teaching and, as a result, to mo-re content in the education curriculum. In addition, the mem-bers of the BBB network continue to specialize further and co-ver an ever-increasing range of construction, real estate and infrastructure-specific content in depth. This also enables the BBB professorships to make a fundamental contribution to the overarching Sustainable Development Goals of the United Na-tions.
