Abstract
Five new metal(II) pseudohalide complexes with 4-azidopyridine (4-azpy, 6) were synthesized, [Ni2(4-azpy)6(NCS)4] (1), [Co(4-azpy)4(NCS)2] (2), [Mn(4-azpy)4(NCS)2] (3), [Ni(4-azpy)4(NCO)2] (4), and [Co(4-azpy)2(NCO)2] (5), and characterized by IR, UV-visible spectroscopy and single crystal x-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the dimeric complex 1 features terminal and μ(N,S)-bridging thiocyanates, and 4-azidopyridine ligands in mer-conformation around the distorted Ni(II) octahedra. The monomeric complexes 2-4 form distorted octahedral MN6 geometries with two N-coordinated terminal pseudohalides in trans-arrangement. The CoN4 tetrahedron in 5 is formed by two cyanate anions and two 4-azidopyridine mols. The magnetic properties of the dimeric complex 1 are reported. [on SciFinder(R)]
