Imaging and electro-optical characterization of donor networks for diluted donor solar cells

Abstract

The morphology of the active layer heavily influences the performance of organic solar cells.1 Donor materials like D18 are able to assemble into a network like structure, which provides sufficient interface for charge separation.2,3
However, detailed information about these networks beyond surface studies are still scarce. In this study scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) investigations of active layers based on D18:L8-BO are presented. Furthermore, the morphological changes of donor reduction and its
impact on the performance are investigated.
