Detection and Stabilization of Regional Electric Islands Post Unintentional Islanding

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

This paper addresses the challenge of unintentional islanding detection in the electricity grid, focusing on hydroelectric power plants. Unlike common detection methods, which are focussed on disconnecting from the island, this study investigates the possibility of stabilizing unintended electrical islands through a smooth transition. In this study, a detection method is developed and evaluated using simulations and field tests.
