Abstract
This paper documents the approach to a new hybrid building structure. Due to climate change, people are becoming more conscious of the importance of using locally available resources and other goals such as erecting structures without a crane. The aim was to develop a visually appealing, low tech, earthquake resistant, lightweight structure. The structure focuses on using wooden stripes with minimal cross-sections and a textile membrane to stabilise its shape. A series of case studies resultedin maximum utilisation of material properties to minimise material thickness and the cross-sections.
