Abstract
This paper proposes a new approach for identification and reduction of coherent generator groups. The identification of the groups is based on the slow coherency method and the electrical proximity. The inter-area oscillations are detected using participation factors of the state variables. Each coherent group is transformed into an equivalent grid with an equivalent generator using the REI method.
