Description
Building and assembling novel materials and devices with tailored properties is a decisive skill to realize next generation technology. However, some structures are difficult to realize, because they do not form as thermodynamically stable phases in a standard chemical synthesis process. In this interdisciplinary research project, we follow a novel approach and push the capabilities of producing designed structures to a new level, controlling the assembly process with atomic precision in a fully autonomous way. As a first application for this ability, we will build coupled arrays of quantum corrals with previously defined properties of choice, e.g. as logic gates.
