Research interests

Robert Gaugl earned his Doctor of Technical Sciences (Dr.techn.) in Electrical Engineering from Graz University of Technology in 2023. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation at Graz University of Technology, specializing in electricity market modeling. As part of his ongoing habilitation process, he is focusing on the application of machine learning in the energy sector. During his research stays – among others at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston/USA, the Universidad de Málaga (UMA) in Málaga/Spain, and the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid/Spain – he gained valuable international experience and further deepened his expertise in these fields. His research interests include renewable energy, electricity storage, techno-economic analysis of sustainable energy systems, and energy innovation.
