Research at the institute has its focus on simulations in fluid and structure mechanics. In most applications, interfaces play an important role such as those occurring in crack simulations, multi-field problems (e.g. two-phase flows), and multi-physics problems (e.g. fluid-structure-interaction). They require innovative and advanced numerical methods for the simulation.
