Abstract
Polymer microwave fibers experience a rise in applications due to their advantageous characteristics. Their high immunity against electromagnetic interference and flexibility make them suitable for many applications like communication and mm-wave radar. This work focuses on the electromagnetic radiation behavior at the bends of polymer microwave fibers and their possible usage in antenna system applications. Therefore, we theoretically discuss the radiation of bent fibers and verify this by laboratory measurements in the frequency range from 60GHz up to 90GHz. The observed behavior is discussed, and conclusions are drawn.
