Navigation deals with moving objects (mostly vehicles) and involves trajectory determination and guidance. Trajectory determination relates to the determination of the state vector of an object at any given time. Typically, the state vector includes position, velocity, and attitude. While trajectory determination only refers to deriving the motion characteristics of an object without interaction, guidance forces the moving object onto a predetermined route to reach a given destination. The research area covers theoretical and practical investigations related to navigation with emphasis on satellite-based and integrated navigation techniques.
